In the previous article, we have explained how there may be “a high possibility of pregnancy when you have sex right after menstruation.” And it is said that the probability of pregnancy is determined by the date or timing of ovulation. Generally, ovulation days come 5 to 9 days after menstruation is over.
What symptoms will you experience on the day of ovulation? Most women may not feel the signs. However, for those who do, the symptoms may have benefits for your pregnancy.
1. Ovulation pain
Ovulation pain occurs when an ovum moves on the day of ovulation. Not all of women have ovulation pain, and how you sense its movement may be different as well. If you have sex when you have ovulation pain, you are more likely to get pregnant. But there is no sure way to feel ovulation pain.
Usually, you feel pain only on one side of the abdomen. Although the pain is very similar to menstrual pain, it’s a bit lighter and a tingling kind of pain.
2. Changes in basal body temperature immediately after ovulation
Basal body temperature changes before and after the ovulation period. Before the ovulation period, the basal body temperature is low. After the ovulation period, the body temperature goes up until the next period comes. If the basal body temperature changes at any time, it is called the ovulation period. If you have sex during this period, the chances of pregnancy will increase.
Increasing estrogen secretion during the follicular period results in positive feedback and increases luteinizing hormone secretion all at once. This is called LH surge, and ovulation occurs as a result of LH surge. Then, basal body temperature goes up.
3. Irregular menstruation?
Usually, women get pregnant during the ovulation period which is 5 to 9 days after menstruation. However, a few women do get pregnant right after menstruation.
If you have an irregular menstrual cycle, you may not be able to easily notice when the ovulation day is. In such cases, ovulation may occur even right after menstruation. If you have irregular menstruation, you may not notice easily even when you get pregnant. In order not to miss the possibility of pregnancy, it is important to maintain a healthy body.
Some women have functional uterine bleeding which means that you have irregular bleeding between menstruation. Functional uterine bleeding is caused by a slight disturbance in the autonomic balance. If you confuse irregular bleeding with menstruation, you might miss the day of fertilization.
After menstruation until the day of ovulation, it can be said that you have a higher chance to get pregnant compared to the ovulation period until the day of the next menstruation. When thinking about pregnancy, the important thing is to be aware of is the ovulation day rather than the date of menstruation.
And if you are not ready to have a baby now, make sure to use condoms or take pills. And if you are on infertility treatment now, be mindful of the day of your ovulation after the menstruation period.
