Self-Improvement 101: Cultivating Self Esteem Through Skills and Hobbies

Each one of us has his or her own talent and ability. Some are good in music, while others are visually inclined or eager to reinvent things from scraps, or even make money!

Whatever your preference, all of us have assets which we can be proud of. But you might have wondered how you can enhance and turn your skills into something that can contribute to your sense of worth and can make you confident and happy. In this article, we will discuss self-improvement and self esteem through skills.

Acknowledge Your Worth and Live With a Purpose

Before anything else, it is important to acknowledge your worth. Many of us go through our lives like androids and think that living is all about being able to keep up with our worldly necessities. So much so that no matter how comfortable or blessed we are, we are still restless and nothing brings passion.

Keep in mind that if there is anything that you want to accomplish for yourself, in order to experience a sense of fulfilment, it has to make a connection with other people’s happiness, as well as your own. And if anyone contradicts your purpose for some reason, consider the truth of your reality. Your skills have nothing to do with other people’s degrading opinions and insecurity. The important thing is to keep improving and rock on!

Self-love needs to be cultivated in a proper way in order to maintain a balanced view of yourself and the people around you. Loving yourself is being your number one fan. Keep a record of the good times, and turn to these memories no matter how insignificant. Be proud of yourself and know that in these moments of happiness, your defiance and determination have proven that you lived.

Develop a Self-Improvement Plan

To begin, it is essential to first set aside some personal time to explore and meditate about matters that will help your self esteem. Take a break for a few hours and get lost in other people’s hobbies until you find one that ignites your passion.

However, it’s not like you need to figure out what you want to do right away. Don’t be impulsive. Take your time and consider everything carefully before launching into a new project. This requires you to establish a plan that involves a realistic vision of your future self, long-term goals, and immediate action plans that you can easily manage to jumpstart your venture.

Once you have decided on a purpose, you’ll have a map to help you to stay on track as you reach for your goals. Learn as you go and modify as necessary.

Focus on the answers and you will find it unnecessary to mind your failures and get affected with setbacks.

Include the date that you expect to complete them if possible. Remember to be realistic when doing this. Make your goals specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely.
  • 4. Talk with a trusted friend – Consult with a trusted friend about reaching your plans and goals. Ask him/her about your progress, and think about questions to ask your friend as a gauge to see if you are in the right path towards your goals. Get second opinions if necessary.
